The Fax on Kruder & Dorfmeister
Kruder & Dorfmeister. If you’re a fan of down beat, tripped-out breakbeat grooves, you’ll . no doubt know who they are — two wacky lads from Vienna, talented DJs, and fine purveyors of the funk. We had the opportunity to do a brief interview by fax, and although they kept it short and sweet, this is what they had to say... Where are you guys based and what’s the vibe like? “We’re based in Vienna, home of the night grooves.” If trip-hop is a dirty word, describe the sound of a Kruder & Dorfmeister production... “Spaced-out dub jazz.” Describe a typical studio session for : Kruder & Dorfmeister... “First we smoke at least half a kilo of marijuana, and the rest comes easily..'” What are your thoughts on drum ’n’ bass? “Our definition of drum ’n’ bass is a mixture of tough beats with a dub edge, but still in a melodic context.” Tell us about G-Stone, your own label... “G-Stone Records is a platform for our music projects. The next release is a remix 12-inch of ‘Tosca’ with mixes by Fila Brazila, Patrick Pulsinger, Peter Fruder, Beanfield, Fauna Flash, Uptight and others.” What do you know about New Zealand? “I am sure it is very beautiful, we hope to get there one day and check it out.” z. ' ’: What’s your idea of heaven on earth? “I think we have it already, because we don’t need much for our heaven on earth, it’s all in your motherfuckin’mind!”
