Hot Licks History
While thumbing through my collected rock ’n’ roll memorabilia recently, I came across an issue oiHot Licks (Issue 22, 1976). Aahh, memories. For those of you born post-76, Hot Licks was a free music newspaper distributed to the masses. However, suddenly it was no longer free, and Jill Punter had to pay to read. Then the price spiralled upwards, leading to Hot Licks no more. Let’s hope those Finn boys are right, and history never repeats. Yours till the next price rise, Wendy Girven. Editor Replies: Hot Licks was part of a record retail and distribution company that collapsed in 1976. The magazine did not close due to its gaining a price.
