Ocean Colour Scene were first signed to an English indie a few years back by Jonathan Hughes (now at Warners NZ) but they’ve now hit the paydirt at MCA with the Stones-ish ‘The Riverboat Song’.
After a massive hit with ‘Missing’, Everything But the Girl have promptly left Warners and moved to the Virgin label.
Cibo Matto (Italian for “food crazy”) are two Asian New Yorkers whose album Viva La Woman has been produced by Mitchell Froom (Crowded House). There’s cool j samples, hip-hop, rap and New York musos I such as Dougie Bowne (Lounge Lizards) and Bernie Worrell (Funkadelic).
Seattle/Sydney hybrid Bloodloss includes Mark Arm of Mudhoney and former members of Australia’s Lubricated Goat, Martin Bland and Guy Maddison, who both now live in Seattle with Renestair EJ who first formed Bloodloss in 1983 in Sydney. The band are now on Reprise, the label founded by Frank Sinatra with a song called ‘Frank’s Wig’.
g pelissa Etheridge is the guest performer at the Clear NZ Music Awards & Entertainment Awards April 13, prior to playing concerts in Wellington and Auckland.
