Music, Cluture, Common Sense (MCA) My CD is stamped: ‘Promo Sampler Only - Not For Sale,’ which I hope is only for this advance copy, otherwise y’all better be hassling MCA to get it released. A great collection of R&B jams, some slow, some hip-hop, some ragga, but all good. Artists include Immature, Wreckx-N-Effect, Jodeci, Nonchalant, and a heap more, including one from (wait for it) Al Green. The Rev still got it too. Particularly impressive was Nonchalant’s ’5 O’clock’, which is a blast of fresh air. Rap lyrics that actually mean something (other than ‘I smoke yo’ ass beeetch’) — whoa, mama, who would have thought it possible? Excellent.
