BOREDOM BREEDS TROUBLE
I would like to express my thanks to the members of Nothing At All! and those who helped on their all ages tour in December. For 15 and 16 year old fans of kiwi music, it is a disappointment when great bands like Dead Flowers, Shihad, and Head Like A Hole tour New Zealand but only play in pubs to audiences of over 18’s. My experiences at the few all ages shows I’ve been to in Napier is that the teenage fans are much more into the music than the older people attending. Nothing At All! are one of the few national bands who think of their overall audience and realise how many underage fans they have. It would be great to see more bands follow their example by having all ages tours. This would also give teenagers somewhere to go on the weekends in places like Hawkes Bay where the night life is non-existent for 15 year olds. As the saying goes, ‘boredom breeds trouble’, and I personally feel all ages gigs are a good way to keep teenagers entertained and out of trouble. So come on New Zealand, think of us underage teenagers and give us something to do on the weekends, besides getting wasted with our friends just for something to do. Avid All Age Gig Supporter, Hawkes Bay.
