Emma Paki is no longer with indie label Tangata. The label and artist failed to agree on a contract to record an album and have parted company. Tangata in a press release said, “We have put 110% into this artist and the positive results speak for themselves. However the situation has simply become unmanageable in recent months.” . . . the Muttonbirds album Salty is released on EMI in Canada Sept 13 and the band have several options for USA release . . . . Revolver Studios where Muttonbirds, Dave Dobbyn, Dead Flowers, Head Like A Hole and Fagan have already recorded, has an official gala opening mid-September . . . David Kilgour will open for Pavement on their USA tour . . .
Dave Dobbyn has been in the studio recording a new single ‘Language’ with Neil Finn producing. Dobbyn will record an album for Sony starting August 1 at Revolver Studio ... the Exponents release their new album Grassy Knoll mid August and they tour nationally in September . . . David Parker has a new single in August ‘Love By Sattelite’ and Eddie Rayner produced the remix . . . Warner Music “grunge” compile Trip 3 includes Kiwi bands Shihad ‘Stations’, 3-Ds ‘Hey Suess’ and Head Like A Hole ‘Faster Hooves’ .

Pumpkinhead will release the single ‘Water’ early Sept and tour nationally . . . Shona Laing has released her new album Shona . . . applications are now being sought for the 1995 Mountain Rock Festival. The final winner will fly to Auckland by Ansett to record at York St studio for release on the Wildside label ... the Clean and Hello Sailor have finished recording their new albums but no release dates yet . . . the 100th Year birthday for the Nelson School of Music is a three week music event (July 23 to August 13) with concert appearances by Shona Laing, Tim Finn, Moana & the Moahunters, Dave Dobbyn, Michael Houston, Richard Nunns & Hirini Melbourne and Mike Nock. There will also be workshops with some of the visiting performers . . .
