FLYING NUN have co-ordinated two weeks of showcase gigs in the USA featuring Straitjacket Fits, Bats, JPS Experience and Bailterspace. All four artists have recordings released in the USA and were individually planning USA visits for 1993. Export Music NZ and Tradenz are helping fund the production of the showcase concerts and associated semi-formal gettogethers for music industry people and media. A New York gig will take place to coincide with New Music Seminar July 20-24. NZ ON AIR VIDEO GRANTS: The June grants went to: * Merenia 'U Know (I Like It)' (Pagan) * Greg Johnson Set 'Winter Song' (Pagan) * Headless Chickens 'Mr.Moon' (Flying Nun) * JPS Experience 'lnto You' (Flying Nun) * Moana & the Moahunters 'Tahi' (Southside) * Katene Sisters 'Keeping Up the Love Thing' (Warner Music) KIWI HIT DISC Vols 1 & 2 were sent to NZ commercial, Iwi, Campus and Access radio mid-June and the track list has been finalised for the third NZ On Air funded Hit Disc, a compact disc series supplied free to commercial radio stations to promote airplay for NZ artists. TIM FINN has reactived his Definative label with the release of a five-track EPfrom Hamilton band Death of a Monkey. Tim produced in a 2 day session at York St studio.

Nigel Grainge and key staff have quit the Ensign label he founded in 1976 and sold to Chrysalis. Artists include Sinead O'Connor and World Party. Grainge is starting a new label ...
