NICK'S ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Your column plumbed new depths of literary degradation. Not only was it misogynistic, sexually obsessed - and phallocentrically insecure, it also displayed hopelessly unfounded arrogance and a reluctance to grow into intellectual maturity. Have you ever considered a career as a multi-mil-lion selling rap artist and teen role model? I can see a market niche for a NZ style Home Invasion album. GEFFEN SUNSET BLVD, LA NICK THE DICK Why the hell was Nick D'Angelo's penis posturing column 'Yo Nick' ever printed? It was a sexist and pathetic effort at humour but D'Angelo failed miserably in his every attempt at irony or parody. No doubt D'Angelo does have some relevant and interesting points to make. So please tell him to sort out his perception of funny or fuck off. If Nick D'Angelo is by chance a woman I apologise for assuming your sex to be male, but even with implicit irony included in your writing, it's still not funny. . I've been reading Rip It Up for about ten years. The publishing of that 'Yo Nick' column, along with Donna Yuzwalk's fawning, drooling and almost unreadable Keith Richards interview, sink an otherwise excellent publication to hideous depths. FAITH NO MORE THE MOST I have seen the future of world class live music in its prime at the top of all other artists and bands and its name is Faith No More. No one can beat them. JIM'S SHADES DUNEDIN KRAMP'S FAN A big 'good one mate' to George Kay for dealing such a foul blow to Munky Kramp in his Faith No More review (K/UMay) since when did being a variety of styles become 'a desperate need for direction'??? This band, refreshingly post Flying Nun for a change, are filling Dunedin venues with people who can cavort with energy and ectasy to all their favourite musics, not tire of one thing in many shades of itself. It's unfair to get personal to MK whenyou seem to be the old school of local music without tolerance of other types. And what about Thromity Urch, the very excellent band before MK, not worth a mention even? Put an age limit on reviewers, or at least get them with an open mind. ANDY HANSEN DUNEDIN ANOTHER DUNEDIN LETTER I have a complaint to make regarding George Kay's review of the Faith No More gig at Sammy's in Dunedin. Why was there no mention of the other support band, ThromityUrch, surely the most original sounding band to emerge from Dunedin since the earth cooled? Their's was a triumphant performance, marred slightly by a fucked mix but deserving of something more than complete ignorance on your part. You prick. And to Grant McDougall's non-existent review of Nuke Wellington Express performance at the Otago Uni orientation comedy night. Do you and George write from the same material?

Why, however, do you call Morrissey a wanker on the grounds of his much publicised celibacy? I don't like his solo material much either but let us not forget that he was once half of a songwriting partnership at least as magnificent as Brett and Bernard from Suede. Incidentally, Brett Anderson claims not to have "done it with boys too" (as you put it). His curious self label is that he is "a bisexual who has never had a homosexual experience". You would be aware of this if you had read relevant - in fact, irresistable, for we more besotted Suede fans - articles on the band in the likes of NME and Melody Maker - as anyone about to review their album might reasonably be expected to. stations playing the show. I am happy to inform him that 93ROX in Dunedin also saw the advert and since April have been . playing the programme each Wednesday night at Bpm. . With its shitty sound, especially the 'Killing Floor' track pretty superlative it is not. A dud. I reckon Hendrix invented Death, metal. Listen to the tracks 'I Don't Live Today' on the Experienced LP with the "Son of Sam" lyric at the end. Also the slowed down vocal of 'And the gods made love" on Electric Ladyland. Duane Zarakov you underrated the MCs's Kick Out The Jams and Lou Reed's Rock and Roll Animal. Both are great albums. Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction good songs spoiled by bad vocals though Mustaine sings better than that ugly junkie Perry (stick that smack up the crack of my arse) Farrell. That Bitual de Homobitual is the worst piece of shit to come out of Yankland ever. How about some articles on these great talents? Blue Cheer, Venom, Budgie, Rush, Mahogany, Rush, Robin Trower, Terry Reid, Stray.
