BLUES SUMMIT
Classic Blues * Classic Artists * Classic Duets
MAGIC, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. That oldtime in-studio magic, all-too-rare in modern recording, is what we wanted this record to be about. The idea was to bring 8.8. King together with several generations of fellow blues greats in duets, match them with terrific old songs, and capture this all "live" in the studio. All concerned knew that this was a roll of the dice, but we were betting on the artistry of all involved. We were right. The project was also virtually a lovefest from beginning to end. From the artists to the producers, once asked to sign on, the response was unanimously something like "If 8.8. wants me, tell me when and where!" The King of Blues himself, possibly the most gracious man in music, then treated each guest like royalty. It was a remarkable few weeks. Whether we captured that elusive musical magic on tape or not, each listener will have to decide for themselves. We think we did pretty darn well. One thing for sure, no one involved will soon forget these sessions. ANDY MCKAIE All New Studio Recordings
