WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP
Woody Harrelson arrives at Venice Beach looking like some smalltown boy from lowa. Offering Wesley Snipes a small wager the two go one-on-one on the basketball court with Snipes confident he'll wipe the floor with this whiteboy geek. Harrelson of course is a hustler and takes
his money bigtime -Snipes has been well and truly stung, and right in front of his homeys. Suitably impressed Snipes teams up with Harrelson and the two go out into the suburbs to fleece the locals. This is a film about people who live by taking other peoples money, a life of hustling and doublecrosses. Snipes wants to quit the lifestyle and get a real job, but needs one big win to get the deposit on a house in a nice neighbourhood. Harrelson is happy roaming but is fucking up his relationship with girlfriend Rosie Perez who also wants to settle down. Actually she wants to get on TV's Jeopardy, and this provides a humourous subplot. Light, but enjoyable — more so for its unhappy ending,.
