The Mini-Disc is a radical departure from the Compact Disc as you can record on the new Mini-Disc. The new disc stores up to 74 minutes of digital sound and it comes in its own protective cartridge. The MiniDisc can be recorded on "millions" of times with no wear or loss of sound quality. The major record labels have issued big selling titles on the Mini-Disc format, from Eric Clapton's Unplugged to Sugar's Copper Blue. NEW HCR SIGNAL PROCESSORS FROM A.R.T. The FXR is the first digital signal processor to offer studio grade multi-effects at a significantly lower price. The VLSI superchip, developed over the last two years by Applied Research & Technology is the basis for the price breakthrough and the enhanced processing power of the FXR (approx $699) and FXR Elite (approx $995). The new FXR offers 50 preset combinations of up to four effects simultaneously and fully discrete two channel stereo and because it features on-board random access memory, it can do incredibly complex reverbs and pitch bend effects. The new electronics allows the processing of two separate audio channels with breakthrough clarity. The new FXR Elite is a programmable version of the FXR. The front panel includes a LED Matrix, telling the user which parameter is being controlled, and an auto store button used for saving the setting. Like the FXR, the FXR Elite is a discrete two channel processing system. You can run drums through one channel and vocals through the other.
