SCHEME SCAM
I've just picked up the September issue of RlU as it went on the shelf here in Christchurch only to read New Artists Recording Scheme applications must be in by September 30th. It is the 22nd today. The New Artist must apply to Wellington for the application forms. That's about four to five days gone if you live in Chch. The New Artist must send demo tape, press kit, preposed art work for the project and have the support of a record label wiling to partly fund the project. 1 suggest three days is not enough time for such requirements. I know. I went through all this crap about six years ago. I sent my band's demo, p-kit, art work and a hand written letter as an application soon after Karyn Hay had announced the grants on the then
R WP show giving South Islanders one week to apply (no official application forms in local music shops). Only then to have the lot sent back to me two days before the in-by date accompanied by an official application form and a note. "Please fill out the official application form and reapply". Seven years down the track and nothing's changed. 1992 and you still get one week's notice to apply for a New Artist Recording Scheme or perhaps Seasoned Artist Recording Scam is more appropriate. Yours Totally Disgusted Damon
