NOT GUILTY The prolific Martin Sheen stars as the foster father of Brendon Fraser, the victim of injustice. This true story is an effective tale of wrongful imprisonment that shocks

without getting overly melodramatic. MR & MRS BRIDGE The title roles are played by Paul Newman and his wife Joanne Woodward in this gentle (slow moving) tale about getting older, wiser, and coping with the family. Directed by James Ivory who also gave us Room With View (which gives you a clue as to the pace). A stylish period piece you'll either love or be bored shitless with. I enjoyed it, particularly Woodward's performance as the almost brain-dead wife. MORTAL THOUGHTS Bruce Willis' body is discovered in a ditch. No-one seems sorry. The film begins with Demi Moore in the Police interrogation , room recounting events leading up to Willis' death. In doing so she must both expose and protect her best friend • Glenne Headly, who was married to Bruce. Good performances from the cast in this tale of domestic violence, with the obligatory twist at the end. STRANGERS Stockbroker Gary is married to Joanne, but soon to be divorced so he can be with Rebecca. On a fateful flight he meets and falls in love with the beautiful but mysterious Anna. The only problem is that Anna is a wacko and Gary finds himself in the midst of a rising body count. Believe it or not this suspense mystery is hot a comedy. MISSION OF THE SHARK On its return voyage after delivering the first atomic weapons (to be dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki) for loading onto the Enola Gay, the USS Indianapolis is torpedoed and many of its crew killed. The surviving crew are rescued and back home the Captain ’ (played by Stacey Keach) is court martialled for negligence. HAVANNA Directed by Sydney Pollack, Robert Redford plays the professional gambler hoping to score big as Havanna collapses into turmoil while Fidel Castro takes over Cuba. Naturally there's a lot happening and the action sequences work well, although it drags a tad in the latter parts as the love interest with Lena Olin takes over. Raul Julia completes the triangle, although for some reason his performance is not credited in the film. MARTIAL LAW 2 — UNDERCOVER Never saw the first one, but what the hey?! Cynthia Rothrock reprises her role as Billie, a member of the elite police force known as Martial Law. Billie goes undercover to expose a criminal ring involved in drugs and prostitution. This means Billie gets to dress like a whore as she delivers those roundhouse kicks and kung fu chops.
