SEPULTURA

I am bloody angry to hearthat Sepulture will only be visiting Auckland and not one of the other major centres. Living in Dunedin, I am acutely aware of the cultural isolation of this city — let's face it, almost nobody of international standing ever visits Dunedin (a city with over 1 2,000 potential customers eager to see interesting bands), and this is true of the South Island in general. It is painful and frustrating having to miss original international acts such as Sepulture because I can't afford the time and .

money to travel up to Auckland in the middle of a working week. I know that there are many others who, like me, cannot travel up to Auckland to see bands that they want to see. There are also those

pretentious plebs who say that Dunedin is an important cultural centre on its own — but I am convinced that these people are simply part of the . movement to lure more students (and their money) down to live in Dunedin,' which has proven to be the ultimate drain of many students' funds. I can only say that when I leave Dunedin for bigger things I will not be in the least bit sorry. May Sepulture and all their spawn reign in blood — I for one still keep the faith.

C. LEISHMAN, DUNEDIN
