PEACE TO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The founder and leader of The Staple Singers, POPS STAPLES' recording career spans nearly 40 years, complete with number 1 singles, gold records and worldwide touring. As a - songwriter and guitarist he has ■ been an innovator with a broad influence on pop, rock, i r&b, and gospel music. He was a pioneer in bringing the blues guitar sound to gospel music and, in the 60's, became controversial when ' he ' successfully moved from purely religious gospel songs to j message songs widely enjoyed by pop audiences. In recent
years he has acted in both a major film and several stage productions, in addition to nis ongoing involvement as the leader of The Staple Singers. On "PEACE TO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD" POPS is joined by long time admirers Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder as well as The Staple Singers (in their first recording since 1986).
