MASSIVE ATTACK E.P. (Circa) CD Single Last year Massive Attack released an album that pretty much totalled the whole Dance music deal. Blue Lines was just so damn funky it almost hurt, and I'll wait patiently for a follow up, because I'm sure it will be worth the effort. In the meantime there's this four track deal, a couple of old songs and a couple of newies, and it sounds mighty nice. Wirth purchase price for the version of 'Be Thankful' alone, and hopefully a taster for a forth-coming album. TONY JOE WHITE Tunica Motel (Interfusion) CD Single After a very long hiatus in his recorded output, Tony Joe White has come back with an album that sticks pretty much to his classic style of swamp pop. The trademark mumbled vocals and fuzzed guitars are there in force, but I think I prefer the real classic horns and soul sound. TEVIN CAMPBELL Tell Me What You Want To Do? (Warner Bros) CD Single He's the young guy who Prince hyped, he sings incredibly well and has help from Al B.Sure and the like so if that 'sophisticated' funk sound (I think it was called Swingbeat for a while) is your deal, this is the one. TINA TURNER Love Thing (Interfusion) CD Single More from Tina's rock goddess persona, lots of wailing gats and - raunchy vocals and all that sort of thing. She really does have a great voice, so it would be nice for a change to hear her do something without the sort of band that producer Dan Hartman approves of posturing wildly behind her. , ' P.I.L. Cruel (Virgin) CD Single I'm sure Lydon is a sellout careerist and all that, but I kind of like P.i.L, they do this weird adult oriented rock, but

it's enlivened by the occasional bit of , wildness, some great hooks and Lydon's wonderful sneer. This upmarket version comes with a little book of the man's quotes and live versions of: * 'Home' and 'Rise' so it's a collectors item for all you punk rock anal retentives out there. SHAMEN Move Any Mountain (Liberation) Cassingle This English trance house really does all sound the same, no kidding. KIRK GEE SUGARCUBES Hit 12' (Liberation) Four tracks, 'Hit', 'Theft', 'Hif and 'Leash Called Love' in which the lead chick singer yelps and sighs in her trademark faux naif manner. Doesn't exactly fry my onions, but fans of the band will go for it, it's not as if they've turned into a dance band or anything.
