Izzy Sfradlin appears to have quit Guns N' Roses due to his unwillingness to spend the next year or more, on the road, in a "highly volatile situation." Replacement is likely to be Steve Navarro of Jane's Addiction. Navarro has been asked join. Axl Rose flew to Hawaii to see JA's final show Sept 26... Clash may reform according to Joe Strummer who has overseen the release of a new USA Clash compilation with out-takes and previously unheard songs. Currently Joe is guesting with the Pogues following the departure of Shane MacGowan from the Pogues... jazz trumpeter Miles Davis (65) died of natural causes Sept 28 in Santa Monica ... former MCS singer Rob Tyner died of a heart attack, age 46.. . Morrissey cancelled the four of his five Australian shows after sufffering from a viral flu. He returned to the UK and will do the remaining Aussie shows later in the year.. . R.E.M. have criticised the release of the Best Of collection of R.E.M. on MCA as a "cash-in" A spokesman for R.E.M. said the compilation is "an unimaginative rehash of the earlier Eponymous collection that had the band's approval... Dave Dobbyn has a new single 'Shakey Isles' on Sydney's Trafalgar label via Warner Music. Dobbyn will also record tracks with Mitchell Froom (Crowded House) for his forthcoming album... all members of the Velvet Underground are reunited for the song 'l'm Not' on Maureen Tucker's new album...
