BLOODY REVIEWERS
| was dead pissed off by Matthew Hyland’s reviews of My Bloody
Valentine’s awesome Tremelo LP and Slowdive’s Morningrise. How dare this pretentious tosser (@ man so dismal he was booted out of the inestimably crap S.P.U.D.) slag off the likes of Ride and the Telescopes at the expense of terminal no-hopers like the Whipping Boy. Chapterhouse and Bark Psychosis are both fine bands, but what Mr Spazzy Hyland fails to appreciate is the value of pop music which is undoubtedly what both Ride and the Telescopes are. Sure, the ‘Scopes used
to be sub-Stooges crap but please please take a listen to ‘Precious Little’ or ‘Everso’. As for Ride, last year they made three great singles and an
excellent album. Hyland's ignorance seems even to extend to the stuff he does like — Slowdive’s “mournful
synths” are, in fact, dear boy, the rather fetching guitarissimo orchestrations of their three guitar line-up. Do some research. So please, either stick to your usual thin gruel of the Buttholes and the rest of their mediocre, talentless ilk, or if you are going to review music that has both a sound and a melody, get some pop sensibilities! Yours Kev Valentine’s tremelo :
