SHAKE SUMMATION
The Chills ‘Wet Blanket’ (Flying Nun 7”) With a remix by Alex Burac that livens up the drum sound and adds a little depth to Mayo Thompson’s Brave Words production, the Chills release ‘Wet Blanket,’ probably the most obvious single off their debut album. I dunno, maybe the shimmering ‘Night of Chill Blue’ may have sat easier on radio than this, but like the album, this deserves to sell more than it will. Cos even if you call its sentiments twee and say it isn’t as good as the first three Chills singles, at least admit that no single released this year will hit you like ‘Pink Frost’ did, and that ‘Wet Blanket' (minus the “live” video) is better than anything Ready to Roll has to offer this week, or any week.
