PACIFICA AMOUR
Auckland's Herbs have returned from their] 25-date Pacific Asian ] tour with a bundle of memories including that of some* angry French soldiers. One of Herbs' dates in Tahiti was at a hotel which hosted French Legionnaires from the Mururoa Atoll. The band dedicated 'French Letter', their anti-nuclear testing song to the soldiers and caused an uproar.
"But the Tahitians themselves were very supportive of our stand," said manager Will Ilolahia. The band made live recordings that will hopefully go on its next album. Ilolahia said Herbs' success showed that a Pacific tour was feasible for other NZ bands. We can expect to see Herbs touring locally early next year. RB
