Colin M'Kenzie is charged, on warrant, with assault with intent to ravish Barbara M'Leod, at Melbourne, on the 6th January, 1860. lie is a Scotchman, aged 24, 6 feet 1 or 2 inches high, medium build, 12 stone weight, fresh complexion, ‘ grey eyes, -light brown hair, small fair whiskers and moustacne, and smart active appearance ; usually dresses as a stockrider. lie is supposed to be in New, Zealand. . ■ •

"Whereas William Selby and John Bennett, hawkers, having left Stawell on Friday, the 16th of October last, with a large amount of jewellery and • other " goods for sale, were discovered oil Friday,“the 6th of November inst., near Mr. Dennis’s station on the Richardson River, tied up to a tree and murdered : Notice is hereby given that there will be paid by the Government for such",information as shall lead' to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders guilty of murdering the persons above mentioned, One hundred pounds, 1

or Fiftv pounds for each offender if it should he proved that there were more than two offenders.

His Excellency the Governor will also extend Her Majesty's Free Pardon to any pet son implicated in the murders above -mentioned [not being one of the actual murderers] who will give the required information. By His Excellency’s Command, J. McCulloch.

Chief Secretary’s Office, Melbourne, 24th November, 1863. PARTICULARS TO AID DETECTION. The first of these men is supposed to he English, aged 35 or 40, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, stoutish built, 12 or 13 stone weight, fair and fresh complexion, li.-ht hair, large end bushy study whiskers worn, all round the face, moustache,' unshared, rather full features, large head, straight nose, somewhat prominent chin, long arms, large hands, clumsy and slovenly appearance, flash manner, and ordinary bush costume. He carried a revolver and sheath -knife, and wore two much-worn gold rings, one of them engraved with J. W. on shield, lie seemed to he a very indifferent horseman.

The second mail looked like a “native,” but may be English-horn. an I ad the appearance of. a “loafer” and horsestealer, aged 30 or 35, •5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, medium build, about 1 1 stone weight, sallow or dark complexion, brown hair, darkish thin and straggling whiskers and beard, unshared, straight nose, repulsive countenance, active gait, and ordinary bush costume. He also carried a revolver and sheath-knife. One of the revolvers is an old six-barrelled one, the trigger-guard fastened cn with a nail instead of a screw. One of the men signed himself James Martin.

Stolen from the-store of William Armstrong, Almeida Reef, Duuoliy. about the 26th Nov., five £5 notes, v>z.: Ron on Chartered Rank, No. 79179; Rank of Australasia, Nos. 4847, •5216, 353 and 5287 ; also twenty-five AT notes Suspicion, * tit no warrant, against two men onlv known respectively as Harry and Tom. Harry is a Londoner, about 30 years of age. 5 fit 7 or 8 inches high, slight build, a’.out 10 stone weight, dark brown hair and whiskers, the latter worn all round, one or two front teeth wanting, and slovenly gait; wore grey jumper, moleskin trousers, and dirty felt hat. Tom is 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, 11 stone weight, black hair, bushv whiskers, swarthy complexion, and one front tooth wanting; wore grey shirt, moleskin trousers, and wideawake. hey are supposed to have gone either to Gipps Land or to Castlemaine, >. r to Melbourne for New Zealand.— Ist December, 1863.
