* The Babees Book. (Early English Text Society.) " ■ GOLDEN WEDDING A WORTHY SOUTH CANTERBURY COUPLE. On Wednesday, July 30, at their residence, Harper Street, Timaru, Mr. and Mrs, J. Ryan, late of Morven celebrated their golden, wedding. All their fairly, many relatives and friends, and over thirty grandchildren wore present. -Both Mr. and Mrs. Ryan are natives of Galway, Ireland, and came to New Zealand in 1867, in the sailing ship Glenmark. They were married in the Catholic Church, Timaru, by the Rev. Father Chataigner, S.M., and soon afterwards took up farming, in the Arowhenua district. Some years later they went* to Waihao, now Morven, where they ,farmed successfully for over 35 years, until they in 1915, and .'came to live in Timaru. Mr. and Mrs. Ryan brought up a. family of three boys and five girls, all of whom are now married and were present at Wednesday’s happy function.
