DAWN OF EASTER.

How white the dawn upon the hills, How white upon the sea! Its hush of fair expectance thrills Earth’s saddened mystery. The light of- heaven, descending, darts Adown the valleys dim, And our repentant, sorrowing hearts Join the great Easter hymn. A day of power again begins, Of strange, unearthly grace; He comes, Who crushes all our sins, His victory on His face! Our Faith becometh light and life We claim Thee for our own! 0 Risen Lord, for us Thy strife; Our hearts are Thine alone! Hail, holy Dawn, uprising clear, To scarlet glories blown! In fiery flakes down-drifting here, From out the Eternal Throne. Flash, blaze of Resurrection, On our discouraged days, Till, warm with sweet'affection, They sparkle into praise! — Franciscan Review.
