(Contributed.) % Wellington. Arrangements for the annual meeting of the Diocesan Council are now complete. Mass will be celebrated at the temporary church of St. Mary of the Angels’, Boulcott Street, at 9 a.m. There will be no sermon and the council will assemble at the Federation Chambers, 4 Willis street, at 10 a.m. sharp. His Grace, Archbishop O Shea, S.M., will be present, and will deliver an important address on current social and educational matters. The morning session will then be devoted to routine business. In the afternoon Mr. M. J. Reardon will deliver an address on the subject of "The Church in California,” in which State he spent some months. A large and representative attendance is assured. Remits have been received from the Diocesan Executive Committee, St. Joseph’s, Wellington, and Westport. Committees having other motions for consideration are advised to notify the secretary, so that they may be placed before the council in their order. Christchurch. —The Diocesan Council meeting is fixed for Julv 20th. Important matters are to be discussed, and all parishes should be directly represented. A special Mass is to bo celebrated in the Cathedral at 9 a.m. Dunedin.—The annual meeting of the Diocesan Council is to be held in St. Joseph’s Hall. Dunedin, on the 23rd instant, when important matters will be dealt with. Circulars explaining the aims and objects of the Federation etc., were distributed throughout all parishes in the diocese. General.—The annual meeting of the Dominion Council is finally fixed for August 25th. Remits should be sent in immediately after the Diocesan Council meetings, and the general secretary advised of the delegates appointed. It is to be hoped that every diocese will Ire directly represented, as the meeting will be one of the most important yet held in connection with the Federation. WANGANUI BRANCH. (From our own correspondent.') The annual meeting of the Wanganui branch of the N.Z. Catholic Federation was held in St. Joseph’s Schoolroom, on Sunday, July 4. Very Rev. Father O’Connell presided, and there was an attendance representative of all parts of the parish. The annual report and balance sheet, which were adopted, revealed a credit balance, and an increase of 33 in membership over the preceding year. The principal theme of the various speakers was the vital necessity for the distribution of Catholic literature amongst the people. Appeals were made to the members for increased subscriptions to, and the circulation of, the N.Z. Table f , and the Catholic Truth Society’s pamphlets. The following were elected to the committee for the ensuing year:Representing St. Mary’s (Wanganui), Misses O’Sullivan and Aramburu, Messrs. Redwood, Ahern, Souter, and Martin; representing St. Joseph’s (Aramoho'), Mesdames Coxon and A. H. Benefield, Messrs. Luxford, Dowling, A. H. Benefield, and Proveau; representing Castlecliff, Captain Connor and Mr. Anthonv; society representatives: St. Vincent de Paul Society, Wanganui (men’s), Messrs. Hart and Lloyd, (ladies’), Mrs. Sharp and Miss McTubbs; Aramoho (ladies’), Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. Luxford; Hibernians, Messrs. Freeman and Stratford; Children of Mary, Misses Kennedy and Morgan. Messrs. W. M. Luxford and T. Lloyd were re-elected vice-presidents, and Mr. J. F. Stratford was re-elected secretary and treasurer.
