WIRELESS COLLEGER-NEW INSTALLATION.

The official opening and installation of the Marconi Wireless Apparatus at The Dominion College of Radio-Telegraphy, Ltd., Auckland, was performed recently by Sir Joseph Ward. In the course of an interesting speech, Sir Joseph stated that the College, with others, had been for a considerable time working under difficulties, inasmuch as it was without the necessary equipment, and under the War Regulations this could not be installed without special permission being obtained. Permission to instal the apparatus was secured and arrangements were * made with the Amalgamated Wireless Limited for four complete sets of standard 1| kilowatt Marconi Apparatus. Provision had also been-made for giving students at the College priority for'appointments to the Amalgamated Wireless operating staff. The Dominion College had been incorporated on 23rd February, 1917, as a private company, and during the year 250 pupils had received instruction. Eighty-nine students had taken up appointments, chiefly in war work, and four had made the supreme sacrifice during the past twelve months. Sir Joseph reviewed the history of wireless telegraphy, and gave examples of the wonderful development of the science since the outbreak of the war. He expressed the opinion that, before many years, wireless telephony would be in universal use. He congratulated the Directors and Manager of the- College upon the enterprise displayed by them in the interests of national efficiency.
