WEDDING BELLS
TOOIIEY—O’GRADY, A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised at the Catholic Church, Timaru, on April 28, the contracting parties being Mr. William Toohey, St. Andrews, second son of the late Matthew Toohey, Leithfield, and Miss O’Grady, youngest daughter of Mr. O’Grady, Church street, Timaru. The Rev. Father Murphy performed the ceremony. Miss • Dennehy played the ‘Wedding March ’ in a finished style. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a beautiful cream crepe do chine, trimmed with lovely lace, with white satin belt, a- silk net veil, elaborately trimmed with Limerick lace, in mob cap style, and a wreath of orange blossoms. The veil, which was a work of art, was made by one of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, and presented to the bride. She carried a beautiful white satin prayer book, the gift of the convent pupils. The bridesmaid (Miss Quinn, cousin of the bridegroom) wore a dainty apricot colored silk ninon, trimmed with lace, black hat with large roses to match. Air. J. Hart acted as groomsman. At the conclusion of the ceremony the wedding party proceeded to the residence of the bride’s parents, where they received many congratulations. The wedding breakfast was laid out in a marquee. After full justice bad been done to the repast, the usual toasts were honored. The bride presented the bridegroom with a gold pendant . The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a handsome diamond and sapphire ring, and to the bridesmaid a beautiful gold bracelet. The presents were both handsome and numerous, including many cheques and valuable articles. The bride’s travelling dress was an up-to-date saxe blue costume, black hat, with saxe blue plumes. The happy couple left by motor to catch the train en mute to Dunedin.
