HOW A THIEF BETRAYED HIMSELF

The following story is told of a wise merchant. One day, when he was busy serving customers, some dishonest person took all the money from the till. Dismayed and puzzled as to who the thief could have been, the merchant resolved not to say a word about it even to his x own family. Some months later one of his customers asked him, ‘ Did you ever find out who took that money from your till?’ With a twinkle in his eye, the merchant replied, ‘ No, not until this moment, but now I know it was you, for I never told anybody I had lost it.’ The customer was glad to get off on paying the missing money.
