Close on a thousand persons were present at the Catholic schools’ picnic at Evansdale on Wednesday of last week. The day was beautifully fine, and consequently a most enjoyable time was spent. Great praise is due to the sports- committee, including Rev. Father Corcoran and Rev. Brother Brady, for the admirable manner in which the programme was carried out. A ladies’ committee, with Mrs. Jackson as supervisor, distributed a large quantity of toys to the younger children.
