Up to the beginning of August therpotato crop had not looked so well in all parts of Ireland for many years Owing to the wet weather the dreaded blight made' its ' appearance, particularly in the West, about the middle of the month, and a Boyle correspondent- writing on August 20, gives a very gloomy view of the condition of the crop in Mayo, Sligo, and Roscommon.
