DIOCESE OF DUNEDIN

Catholics in and about Duneuin are cauticncd against an individual in lay attire who has been seeking to enlist sympathy by representing himself as a censured priest. The fellow is no priest, but a clumsy impostor, and Catholics on whom he calls would do well to hand him over to the police. At a meeting of the St. Joseph's Harriers' Club on Tuesday evening the following officers were elected for the current year : — President, Rev. Father Cofley, Adm. ; vice-presidents, Rev. Father Delariy, Dr. O'Neill, and Mr M, Coughlan ; captain, Mr T. J.. Hussey ; deputy captain, Mr. J. B. Callan, inn. ; committee, Messrs. J. B. Callan, jun., and' .T. Miller. The season promises to be more successful than the last, as a number of new members have already joined the club. Votes of thanks were passed to all who had so kindly entertained the club at various times during the past season.

The new church at Naseby is fast approaching completion, and we understand that it is to be blessed and opened on Sunday, April 2JJ. The opening of the new church at Waikaka (in the Gore parish) was unavoidably postponed from April 1, the building not being in a sufficiently complete condition. We understand that the opening will take place shortly. The Mother Provincial of the Little Sisters lof the Poor recently completed her tour of visitation of the houses of the Order in this Colony. When in Dunedin she expressed her great pleasure at and gratitude for the conspicuous kindness and generosity shown to the Sisters both in town and country since coming to Dunedin, and she trusted that the charitable public will enable the Sisters to extend their sphere t>f usefulness by helping them to enlarge the Home, there being pressing need for extra accommodation for many seeking admission. The Mother Provincial left for Melbourne a few days ago.
