The local branch of the Hibernian Society has benefited notlabiy as the result of the mission lately conducted here b<y the Very Rev. Father Clime, C.SS.R., and tha Rev. Father McDermott, C.SS.R. The members of the local branch of the Iliblernian Society held their a'rtninal 'social recently in His Majesty "s Theatre. The function (says the t local paper) was a 'gpeat success 1 in every way, and the Sociely must feel gratified wi + h their yearly gatheirinjg 1 ,. O\er 200 persons wore present, and a pleasant time was spent by onn and all. It was only three years ago since tho local iWranch (St. Patrick's 373) of tine Ili^erniajn Society was formeU, /Wut it has made big strides in strength of memfalefrsih'ip ami popularity. Its annual social is recognised as one of the chief events in local social life, "and the young 1 lodge yields- plaoe to no>ne in the excellence and completeness of the arrangements for the gathering. The p/OortMcillowship between the vtarious lodges was sihown by the large number of representatives present from kindred societies. A hearly welcome was accorded them biy Mr. G. Gratz, who, in a happy speech, assured t»he reip resent a lives of the pleasure felt by the Hibernian Society at their attendance, and expressed the cordial goodwill of his Society tio brother ong&n'isations>. The representatives of tbe visiting societies sniitabiv acknowledged Mr. Gratz's courtesy.. During the early part of the evening the Rev. Father Mu'lvihill was ptrewnt, 'and took much interest in tho well-Hieing of the social. The various members of the committee were tireless in their efforts to promote the success of the Slathering, and the result of their united efforts ensured to the full Ihe comfort and convenience of those present. The officials of tbe Society were the recipient's of warm congratulations on the excellent manner in which the arrangements for the gathering were carried out. No detail Avas left unattended tio, and the secretary and committee thoroughly deserved the thanks of all for their assiduous efforts.
