My Dear Lord Archbishop,— On the 11th inst. I had occasion to go to the Pope, and, a recent letter from Cardinal' Moran having given me details of Your Cangres B in Melbourne, I was able to tell these to the Holy Pather. I was able to tell him of the 2000 associates, of the 70 papers that were read, of tJhe 2( 00 young men, representing yc*ur religious societies, who went to Holy Communion on the morning of tf* day on which the Congress opened ... 1 c ™\d not exaggerate the interest and the pleasure with which the Pope heard all this. He began to speak of how beautiful it was to see the life of that youn X nation developing under the influence of religion • how happy your Grace must be to see this rich rew'arfd of your labors, and such fair promise foi the future ",, f He gratified, as well as interested, to P*nfUor\ P p P n rS een C u °^ ribut/ed b^ the Roman V * ' lla and Ma rucchi.
