Wellington, September 15. — The Agent-General's cable, dated London, 14th, says : — ' The mutton market is firm, while stocks are firmly held in a few hands. Average prices to-day : Canterbury mutton, 3|d ; North Island, 3sd ; River Plate. 3Jd. Trade is very disappointing. Only a hand-to-mouth demand, and dull of sale, Lamb: Canterbury brand, 4jd ; other brands, 4 Jd. There is an inclination to force pales of lamb. The beef market is quiet. New Zealand hinds, 3J 1, forep, 2Jd. Stocks of New Zealand beef are light.

London, September l.">. — The wheat market is quiet but steady. French wheat is a shade easier, the crop being superior to expectations. Cargoes are slow of pale. We quote : Prime milling and seed lines, 2s 4^d to 2s 6d ; good to best feed, 2a 3d to 2d 4 1 ; medium, 2s to 2s 2d per bushel (sacks extraj.

Wheat — The quantity on offer is not heavy. Local demand continues keen for prime milliner and good fowl wheat. In the absenoe of inquiry for medium milling, a considerable quantity of this olass ia finding an outlet as fowl wheat. We quote : Prime milling, 2a Bsd to 2b 101 ; medium, 2s 7sd to 2* 8d ; whole fowl wheat, 2s 6d to 2a 7d ; broken and damaged, 2a to 2s 5d per bushel (sacks in).

Potatois — The quantity arriving is not great, and stocks on hand are moving off at late values. We quote : Best Derwente, L 4 10s to L 5 ; medium, L 4 to L 4 7s 6d per ton (Hacks in). Chaff — There is a good demand for prime oaten sheaf, but medium quality is still out of favor. We quote : Prime oaten sheaf, L3ss to L 3 10s ; medium to good, L 2 10s to LS ; inferior, L 2 to L 2 7s 6d per ton (sacks extra).
