MR. H. MARSH.
We regret to have to record the death of Mr. Harry Marsh, which occurred at Wellington last week. Mr. Marsh, who was only twenty-seven years of age, was one of the most popular and respected officers of the Customs 1 department. The deceased had been suffering from consumption for some time, and was, at his own request, transferred to a northern port last autumn so as to avoid the cold of a Wellington winter. He, however, returned to this city recently and died at the residence of his mother-in-law — Mrs. Moran. widow of the late Mr. James Moran, formerly of Auckland. Mr. Marsh was a very able officer, and had passed a brilliant examination for the Civil Service, before entering 1 the Customs, afterwards graduating as a B.A.of the New Zealand University. The funeral took place from St. 3lary of the Angels' Church on Monday, the interment taking place in the Karori cemetery. Mr. Marsh is described as having boen a scholar of pome parts ; indeed, it is assumed that his death was greatly accelerated by his studious habits. He was a oi! the Dune lin University, having matriculated at the age of eighteen, pacing third on a list of 493. He was a devout Catholic, and to him death was not the end of life Dut the threshold of it. — R.I. P.
