DUNEDIN CATHOLIC LITERARY SOCIETY.
The first meeting of the 10th session of the above Society was held ia the Christian Brothers' schoolroom, Rattray street, on Wednesday sth Appil. Considering the shortness of notice the attendance was very good. Mr P. Hally occupied the chair. In moving the adoption of the annual report, which was read by the secretary, the chairman congratulated members on the progress made during the year. The following gemlermn also spoke— Messrs F. M. Cantwell Miller, Columb, 0. B. Haughton and Eager, the latter gentleman drawing the attention of members to the number of times His Lordship the Biahop had been present during the session, and expressing the wish that his health would allow him to atteod as often during the coming session. The next business on hand was tbe election of office-bearers for the ensuing year, which resulted as follows : — President, Rev P. Lynch, proposed by Mr F. M. Cantwell in a few complimentary remarks, seconded by Mr J. P. Eager, and carried by acclamation • vice-presidents, Messrs F. M. Cantwell and M. Miller ; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. E. Cantwell ; assistant-s.jretary, Mr R. Fergassoa • committee, Messrs P, Carolin, H. F. Mooney and C. Columb Mr C. E. Haughton proposed a hearty vote of thanki to the retiring officers, making special men ion of tha energetic secretary, Mr T Drumm ; seconded by Mr J. P. Eager, and carried. Tbe fallowing' gentlemen also spoke— Messrs Miller, J. Cantwell, J. Hally, and F. Cantwell. ' J This being all the business on hand, the usual compliment to the chair terminated the meeting shortly before 10 o'clock.
