Lord Granville, Bpeakiug at Rochester, admitted that there were outrages and disaffection in Ireland, but they had somewhat diminished of late, owing, however, not to the repressive measures of the Government but to the expressions of sympathy recently shown by the Englibh people. The true remedy for the present state of things was the very simple one of governing a free people according to their own wishes.
