H. A. C. B. S., AUCKLAND.

The half-year'y meeting of the Auckland Branch of the abore Society was held on Wednesday, July 11, at the ordinary placa of mc-ting, Catholic Institute, WeliingioT street. There was a large number of members present, including some visiting brethren of the branch, and t'-e Very Rev. Father Hackett, chaplain, who is also a full benefit member. It was decided by resolution, that the branch attend in regalia the social gathering to be held in August, in aid of St. Patrick's new presbytery. The election of officers for the ensuing term resulted as follows : — President, Brother S. Pairweather ; vice-presiden l -, Brother W. Pohlen ; secretary, Brother J. H White (re-eiccted) ; treasurer, Brother W. Kane (re-elected) ; warden, Brother J. Wrist ; guardian, Brother M.Nolan ; sick-visitors, Brothers John Patteison P.P., and M. O'Keefe ; delegates to districtmeeting, Brothers Rev. Father Hackett and President Fair weather ; medical attendants, Drs. Lewis aad Erson. The election of assistant secretary was held over until next meeting. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the retiring president, (Brother D. Flynn) and the outworn 2 officer for thu efficient manner in which they had one aad all performed their duties. At the quarterly meeting held a fortnight previous, three of the Benedictine Fathers of So. Benedicts, Newton, were proposed as members, viz , Very Rev. Father O'Sulhvan (superior), Very Rev, Father Downey (parish priest), and the Rev. Father O'Oara. The amount of contributions received at this meeting, waa nearly £90, whic'\ was considered, according to the depressed state of the timep, very satisfactory. The sum of five pounds was voted for the Benevolent Fund to help a dntressei member and family.
