CATHOLIC BOYS' SCHOOL, ASHBURTON.
Tub annual examination of the Roman Catholic boys' school, Ashburton, was held with highly satisfactory results. The numbers presented and passed in the various standards were as follows :— Standard V. : presented, 5 ; passed, 5. Standard IV. : presented, 2 ; passed, 1. Standard III. : presented, 4 ; passed, 4. Standard II.: presented, 9 ; passed, 8. Standard I. : presented, 10 ; passed, 10. Primer I. : presented, 12 ; passed, 12. Primer II, : presented, 13 ; passed 12. — The general remarks were to the effect that the school had passed a very good examination, more especially in reading, writing, and arithmetic. The examiner (Rev. Father Chastagnon) spoke in highly complimentary terms of the master's zeal and ability as a teacher, and congratulated Mr. O'Shea on the general efficiency of the school. The Uev. Father also bestowed a word of praise on tbe boys for their general good conduct and the general progress they had made at school.
