Three years ago a tenant named John O'Neill was evicted from his farm in Pallasgreen for refusing to pay what he considered an exorbitant rent. In this resistance he was supported by the Land League and National League, which granted him sums of relief from time to time. Now, at the end of three years, be goes back to his old home triumphantly. Between two hundred and three hundred pounds of arrears have been wiped out, and the rent to be paid now by Mr. O'Neill is two guineas per acre where formerly it was £2 17s 6d. Father Ryan adds that Mr. O'Neill desires to say that he now ceases to ba a pensioner on the funds of the League. — Nation, Nov. 22.

The Land Corporation is as hard up seemingly as Mr, Montagu Tigg was when he first appeared to Martin Chuzzlewit, and Mr. Kavanagh's pet does not appear even to have a friend round the corner. From a letter Tead from Father Michael Ryan, the indomitable and patiiotic parish priest of Pallasgreen, at the meeting of the League on Tuesday, it seems that on some farms in his neighbourhood the five Emergency men who had been sent to herd the stock, have now no stock to herd, as their last cow and horse have been sold at Pallas to pay the county cess. Things have come to a pretty pass indeed with the Emergency Committee when thej cannot raise a few shillings to pay their share of the county cess without selling their last cow and horse. — Nation, Nov. 22.
