Palmerston North. —17th instant, that he may be interviewed regarding two bicycles which he obtained on hirepurchase agreements from Charles Arthur Hosking, cycledealer, Main Street, James Grindlay, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., steward and hotel porter, native of Scotland ; dressed in a navy-blue suit (no hat). He may be in possession of a gentleman’s Hosking bicycle, No. 1984, Aero transfers, black with red and gold lines, Canadian reversible handles, Bates’ saddle, Red State and Dunlop Champion tires. On the 2nd February he obtained a gentleman’s bicycle by paying a deposit of 10s. and contracting to pay the balance at the rate of 2s. 6d. each Saturday. Next day he obtained a lady’s bicycle under similar conditions. He gave the latter bicycle to Nola Wischnewsky, of Wellington, about the beginning of last month, and it has been returned to the cycle-dealer. On the 31st January last and on the Ist and 2nd ultimo he was employed as a porter at the Masonic Hotel, Palmerston North.

Wellington. 26th October last, for false pretences, George Goodwin, alias Robert Forbes Reid, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, crooked nose ; dressed in a brown suit and brown felt hat. He is thought to be identical with a man who obtained £lO from William Noad, licensee, Barrett’s Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for £lO.
