Paeroa. —Between January, 1931, and January last, a hut at Maratoto, the property of JOHN REMBHRANT PRATT, Lauder, was broken into and the following stolen : A sextant, with “ R.N.” engraved on it; a gentlemen’s dress suit, small size; a number of plates; dishes; and bowls ; and a large number of cooking utensils : total value, £54. Portion identifiable.

Mangaweka. 3rd instant, the property of VALENTINE CROON, bush contractor, a gentlemen’s brown suit, made by Goldfinch and Cousins, Palmerston North, small cigaretteburn on right thigh or inside of leg ; a pair of gentlemen’s tan shoes, size 9, uskide soles; a fawn Borcclino hat with brown band, size 6s, may have Goldfinch and Cousins mark on inside ; a gentlemen’s plain fuji silk shirt; a gentlemen’s white shirt; one or two sets of woollen underclothing ; and about £2 in money : total value, £ll 10s. Masterton. the 6th and 16th instant, the dwelling of KENNETH GRAEME GUY, 62 Cole Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A gold brooch set with pearls, true lovers’ knot design, with a small gold heart, inlaid with blue enamel, hanging from it; a gold ring, set with a coral and two pearls in claw setting ; a gold ring, set with three diamonds in platinum ; a gold ring, set with a turquoise in claw setting ; a gold arrow broach about 3 in. long, “ L ” in sapphires in centre, pin broken; a ladies’ gold watchchain, about 4 ft. long, small curved links ; and a gentlemen’s plain gold wristlet-watch, with leather strap attached : total value, £sl 10s. Wellington. —3oth March last, the property of AGNES JANE GALE, a ladies’ oval dark navy-blue leather purse, about 8 in. long, small leather handle, pocket on one side, two compartments, containing a pair of hom-rimmed glasses in case; a gold ring, set with five diamonds; a gold ring, mounted with three rubies, surrounded by several small diamonds ; and 9s. in money : total value, £33 4s. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about twenty years, height 5 ft. 8 in., slight build, pale complexion ; wearing a dark suit and lightgrey hat, turned down. Suspect snatched the bag and contents from complainant in The Terrace.

Wellington. —7th March last, from the waiting-shed, Pembroke Road, Northland, the property of JAMES WILLIAM O’CONNOR, 17 Waripori Street, a gentlemen’s goldfilled Howard hunting pocket watch, No. 958264, case No. 8319033, scroll pattern on case ; value, £8 17s. 6d. Identifiable.

Wellington. the 20th and 25th ultimo, the dwelling of BRUCE THOMPSON, 338 a The Terrace, was broken into and the following stolen : A three-stone diamond ring, claw setting in platinum half-hoop ; a pink pearl ring, with one pearl set on gold cross ; an 18 ct. gold vanitycase, about 3^ in. in diameter, “ C.1.T.” on front of case; with long fine gold cable chain attached ; a gold Rifle Brigade badge brooch ; a gold wire brooch, with “ Barbara ” on it; an oblong gold brooch, about 2 in. by 3 in., with a diamond in centre; a gold brooch, about 2 in. by 3 in., set with an onyx, no pin ; a Nellie Stewart gold bangle ; two plain silver cigarette-cases, about 5 in. by 3i in.; a string of creamy-white pearls; a string of jade beads on metal chain; a string of large gun-metal pearls, knotted between each ; a large oval moonstone; a pair of opera-glasses in black case; a threecell Winchester focussing torch ; and five stainless knives : total value, £6O. Blenheim. — Between the 14th and 15th ultimo, from a motor-car in Wintringham and Coker’s garage, the property of JOHN McMILLAN, Ford’s Road, Tinwald, Christchurch, a black folding Carbine camera, takes 118 film, special anstigmatic lens, small spirit level near lens, containing red fluid, bulb exposure missing ; value, £7 10s. Identifiable.

Blenheim. April last, from a dressing-room at Lansdowne Park, the property of JOHN ALEXANDER WILSON, 18 Ventnor Street, Wellington, a gold albert watchchain, gold medal attached, with “ 8.F.” engraved on front, and “ Best back .Fourth Grade, 1914 ” engraved on back; and £1 10s. in money. Identifiable except money.

Richmond. 23rd February last, from the dwelling of MELVILLE THOMAS RICHMOND GOODMAN, Gladstone Road, one hundred and forty £1 notes. Not identifiable.

Between the 30th March last and Ist ultimo, the yacht “ Cyclone,” moored in Lyttelton Harbour, the property of CHARLES CLIFFORD HAINES, was broken into and the following stolen : A Short and Mason’s barometer in brass case; a tan leather case, containing a Vioghtlander folding-camera, Compur shutter, 4-5 lenses; a brown leather case, containing a pair of Zeiss field-glasses, lenses marked 8 X 30 ; and a five-cell Columbia torch : total value, £25 15s. Dunedin. 22nd ultimo, from the dwelling of JESSIE MILNE DALRYMPLE, 33 Highgate, a ladies’ square silver wristlet- Roman numerals, worn brown leather strap attached ; and £3 ss. in money : total value, £5 10s. Watch only identifiable.

Dunedin. — 30th March last, from the Railway Goods-yard, Dunback, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department), a case containing twenty-four half-bottles of Bullock l ( ade whisky ; a 5 lb. box of Southern Cross tea ; and a small case of sundries : total value, £8 2s. 6d. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Daniel Rutherford Murray, referred to in Police Gazette, 1930, page 499, and Photographs, page 57. Suspect has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Waitahuna. —Between the 20th February and 24th March last, from a hut, the property of ARCHIBALD MACDONALD, Greenfield, three coils of fuse ; a cheque-book containing about twenty-five cheques on the Bank of New Zealand, Balclutha ; a bank-book ; and 8 lb. gelignite, the latter was stolen from a quarry at the rear of his hut: total value, £1 6s.
