PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —loth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £6 2s. 3d. fine and costs for being in possession of opium, Ah Ark, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 6-J- in., gardener, native of China, medium build, yellow complexion, black hair, brown eyes. Auckland. —10th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three months in default of paying £4l 2s. 3d. fine and costs for being in possession of opium, Ah Tong, age forty, height 5 ft. 4 in., laundryman and gardener, native of China, strong build, yellow complexion, black hair, brown eyes ; usually dressed in a grey suit. Auckland.— 2sth February last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying 17s. 3d. balance of fine and costs for being in possession of opium, Wong Sing, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 3-J in., gardener, native of China, medium build, yellow complexion, black hair, brown eyes. Auckland. —sth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Catherine Elizabeth Heron, 3 Manawa Road, Remuera, Robert Charles Heron, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 91“ in., meat-buyer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, right arm deformed ; usually well dressed in grey suit. Arrears to 18th ultimo, £33 3s.

Auckland. —29th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife in Sydney, Australia, Walter Henry Williams, age about thirty-four, height about 5 ft. 4 in., watchmaker and electrician, medium build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, B. on left wrist; smart appearance. Arrears to 18th February last, £lO7 ss.

Auckland. —sth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Hector Charles McKenzie, age fifty, height 5 ft. 9 in., cabinet machinist and second-hand dealer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, grey hair, hazel eyes, clean-shaved. Arrears to 4th February last, £l3 10s. He may attempt to leave the Dominion.

Auckland. — Archibald Andrew Scott, alias William Smith, alias Archie Smith, alias Russell, escaping from custody, &c.: It has been ascertained by the Tuakau police that he was employed by Ronald Crawford, farmer, Onewbero, and left there on the Ist instant, riding the mare stolen from Albert Parkes, vide Police Gazette, 1926, page 130. He is also in possession of a cheque-book on the Bank of New South Wales, Auckland, No. 206205-206220. (See Police Gazette, 1925, pages 267 and 328, and 1926, pages 128 and 130.) Auckland. —28th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Cyril Albert Hoskins, alias Osborne, alias J. S. Smith, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 2fin., upholsterer, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes ; “Alfreda,” dot, and “C.A.” on left forearm; scar on left thumb. Accused obtained £7 10s. from Leonard Herbert O’Gara, grocer, 60 France Street, Newton, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount on the National Bank of New Zealand, Newton. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 378, and Photographs, 1923, page 10.) Auckland. —On or about the 4th October, 1926, for false pretences, W. A. C. Webb, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., slight build, fair complexion and hair ; well dressed. Accused obtained 2,250 football-scoring cards for season 1927-28, value £lB 17s. 6d., from Mark Smethurst, printer, 3 Station Street, Newmarket, by falsely representing' that they were for the New Zealand Rugby Football League. No warrant. Matamata. —16th August, 1926, on warrant for theft of a Ford motor-car (recovered), value £29, the property of D. McL. Wallace and Co., garage proprietors, Thomas Stewart, age about thirty-five, height 6 ft., labourer, native of Scotland, strong ••build, fresh complexion, red hair; usually dressed in a grey suit and felt hat. Accused bought the car on the time-payment system, and whilst still owing about £29 sold it to John Patterson Benton, Putaruru, for £42. There is another charge pending.

Tokomaku Bay. —27th September last, that a summons for being drunk in charge of a motor-vehicle may be served upon him, Keith Jackson, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and lorry-driver, native of Tasmania, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, small mouth; well dressed in a grey or blue suit (usually does not wear a hat when working) ; erect gait; quarrelsome. Waitaka. —26th December last, on warrant for theft of a fountain-pen (recovered) and a watch, value £3 12s. 6d., the property of George Glendenning, Tim Yates, alias Thomas Yates, alias Williams, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 8-|in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes, scar on right thumb, on ringfinger, on left cheek, and on head ; blue scar over left eye ; ring on left ring-finger. Napier. —24th ultimo, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Geoffrey Lindsay, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., agent and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair, dark-brown eyes. Wellington. —l7th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three months in default of paying £29 4s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, Patrick O’Kane, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 11 in , labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes ; usually dressed in a grey tweed suit and cap and tan shoes ; wears horn-rimmed spectacles ; fond of drink.

Wellington. —3lst ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £3 fine for false pretences,. Joseph Harvey Cornish, age fortyeight, height 5 ft. Ilf in., engineer, native of Australia, strong build, dark complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes, scar on left ankle. (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 203.)

Christchurch. —4th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for six months in default of paying £B3 10s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his four children, Harrie LOUIS Giles, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, grey eyes. Alexandra. — 7th instant, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £3 10s. fine and costs for assault, John Kitto, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 3 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, pale complexion, brown hair and eyes ; impediment in speech ; lame ; fond of drink ; usually rides a bay hack.
