Property similar to the above has been recovered at a second-hand shop, but as the complainant is in England it cannot be definitely identified. It was sold to the dealer by a man of the description given. No warrant.

Auckland. 23rd ultimo, for attempted theft from the person of Christopher Titus Ricket, ironmonger, Te Awamutu, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., slight build, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, thin face, clean-shaved ; dressed in a blue serge suit, grey felt hat, and slate-coloured overcoat. At the left-luggage office complainant, who was jostled by the -described man and two others, became aware of some interference with his hip pocket, after which he discovered that his purse, containing £1 10s., was stolen. He seized the accused, who dropped the purse and ran away. No warrant.

Accused, who was employed by complainants as a traveller, collected £1 4s. from Alfred Devine on terms requiring him to account for the same to his employers, but fraudulently omitted so to do. He was employed as a traveller for John Chambers and Sons, machinery agents, Auckland.
