He may be employed taking orders for picture paintings. Samuel Stuart Heath, false pretences and failing to maintain : It has been ascertained by the Auckland police that he is identical with Stuart Heath Harris, alias Gerald Harris, alias Arthur Robert Carey, sentenced at Sydney (Australia) in March last to two years on charges of theft and false pretences. Auckland. —On or about the 30th January, 1924, on warrant for false pretences, Edward Alfred Short, alias Alfred Edward Short, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 5-f in., taxi-driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair turning grey, brown eyes, scar on left shoulder and on right thumb. Accused obtained £43 10s. from Arthur Ernest Warde, garage-proprietor, 2 Little Queen Street, by falsely representing that a certain Hudson motor-car was unencumbered, whereas it was under a bill of sale to the ideal Loan and Finance Company (Limited), under which bill accused owed £43 10s. He was sentenced to probation on above charge (see Police Gazette, 1924, page 352), but failed to comply with the conditions, and his arrest on the original Charge is now desired. Te Kura.—lßth instant, on warrant for theft of an overcoat (recovered), value £2, the property of James Joll, plasterer, H. Mar ton (name probably fictitious), age twentyfive, height 5 ft. 8 in., native of Canada, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair ; dressed in a blue suit and black-felt hat, and carries a black cane with silver knob; lame on right foot; plausible manner.
