Auckland. Between the 13th and 14th ultimo the dwelling of JANET MACDOUGALL, 31 Vauxhall .Road, Devonport, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A 15 ct. gold band engagement-ring, set with a diamond in a square on top ; a gold brooch, about 2 in. long, set with two heart-shaped stones under gold lover’s knot; about 7£ yards of black costume silk ; about 21 yards of white Japanese silk ; about 2 yards of grey crepe de Chine ; a quantity of apricot knitting-silk ; and two unfinished knitted jumper-sleeves : total value, £l4 19s. 6d. Brooch and ring only identifiable.

On or about the 23rd October last, from the dwelling of EDITH WALTER-RICHARDS, 76 Symonds Street, eight gentlemen’s silk handkerchiefs, four single blankets with blue borders, eight pairs of girls’ combinations with “ A. E. Richards” on each, and other articles of girls’ underclothing;, and a quantity of groceries : total value, £ll 11s. 6d. Mostly identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Ethel May Jacques, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., nurse and housekeeper, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, two gold upper teeth. She has been arrested by the Auckland police on another charge and interviewed regarding this offence, but no evidence resulted. • •

Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark-grey suit and grey soft-felt hat.

Hamilton. —Between the 30th ultimo and the Ist instant the confectionery-shop of WHITTEN AND JONES in Victoria Street was broken into, and the following money stolen therefrom : A £lO note, twenty-eight £1 notes, £lB 10s. in silver, and £2 3s. in coppers ; total value, £SB 13s. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Walter John Lewis, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scars on right side of neck, mole on right cheek; dressed in a brown suit and light-felt hat.
