Auckland. 27th instant, for escaping from custody, George Caffrey, alias Johnson, alias Johnstone, age twentysix, height 6it. 11 Jin., labourer, dark complexion, black hair, large brown eyes, clean-shaved, left-thumb joint enlarged, scar on left forearm; dressed in a dark suit, lightgrey overcoat, and cap; boils on body; has the appearance of a quarter-caste Maori. Whilst being escorted to Wellington he escaped from the train near Newmarket. Offender may be in possession of Bank of New Zealand notes as follows: One £IOO, five £SO, and two £2O, the proceeds of a recent theft. He may assume the name Jackson, and may be accompanied by Esther Sutherland, referred to in Police Gazette, 1919, page 347, who is pregnant, and who may be accompanied by her daughter, Eileen, aged ten.
