PERSONS WANTED.

Rawene. —3oth August last, that a distress warrant for £5 10s. fine and costs for unlawfully supplying liquor to a Maori may be executed upon his effects, Arthur Lupton, age about forty, height 5 ft. 7 in., showman, native of England, slight build, sandy complexion, long auburn hair, brown eyes; usually dressed in a blue or brown sac suit; fond of drink; a fluent speaker. He may be accompanied by his wife and two sons.

Newton.— 27th ultimo, that he may be induced to pay £7 2s. 6d. arrears of maintenance, Ernest Chaffey, age fifty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., contractor and insurance agent, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair complexion, fair hair turning grey, fair moustache, prominent eyes ; usually* dressed in a brown suit and brown-felt hat; quiet manner. Auckland. —2oth February last, that a summons for failing to maintain his four children, inmates of Auckland Receiving Home, may be served upon him, Albert Edward Parker, age thirty, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, florid complexion, brown hair, large brown eyes, clean-shaved ; frequents racecourses and billiard-saloons. Auckland.— 27th January last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £3 16s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Violet May Rolton is the mother, William Hawkes, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., fireman, native of New Zealand, thin build, dark complexion, sharp features, clean-shaved. Arrears computed to 12th November last.

Hamilton. — 2nd December last, that he may be compelled to pay £3 3s. expenses incurred for medical treatment •while on remand on a charge of attempted suicide, Sydney Rolf Cox, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and miner, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair turning grey, brown eyes, pointed nose, skin has been burned off hands.

Hamilton. —27th ultimo, that a summons for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Marion Taylor is the mother, may be served upon him, Walter Stretch, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, dark-brown hair; long thin face, clean-shaved, mole on one side of mouth ; usually dressed in a grey suit and felt hat ; smart appearance. Arrears to 10th November last, £35 2s.

Wellington. —lst ultimo, on warrant for theft of a coat and vest (recovered), a black-metal watch, a silver chain, and a gold-mounted pendant, total value £9 9s. 6d., identifiable, the property of Patrick Kenny, labourer, C. Brown, age about twenty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., medium build, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved; dressed in a grey suit and grey-felt hat. The property was stolen from a boardinghouse at 149 Willis Street, and the recovered articles were sold by accused to Mrs. Levy, second-hand dealer.

Wellington. — E. Erickson, theft: It has been ascertained by the Wellington police that accused’s correct surname is believed to be Congdon. He is identical with Ted Smith, referred to in Police Gazette, 1920, page 92, and he is believed to be identical with Les James, alias Elbreda, alias Congdon, referred to in Police Gazette, 1920, page 156. Wellington. —lsth ultimo, on warrant for conspiring to defraud Patrick Sarsfield Ford, electrician, Petone, of £2OO, Jack Coulter, age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Australia, stout build, fresh complexion, brown hair ; dressed in a grey suit and light Stetson hat, and carried a light walking-stick ; pleasant face. Joseph Lewis Alfred (who has since been arrested) and accused are charged jointly with the above offence. Accused sold for £2OO to complainant his share in a photography business. Most of the stock sold is missing.

Wellington.— Victor James Burroughs, failing to maintain: The Wellington police have now furnished the following amended description of accused : Age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 11 in., native of England, pale complexion, long fair hair, blue eyes, large nose, round shoulders; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit, soft-felt hat, black boots, and fawn overcoat. Wellington. —lßth February last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying Bs. fine and costs for drunkenness, Michael Kiely, aged fifty-eight, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, dark complexion, grey hair, brown eyes, “K.G.” and Faith, Hope, and Charity on right forearm ; “ In memory of Jane Kiely” on left forearm. Wellington. l7th February last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £7 6s. fine and costs for wilful damage, Da'S id Douglas, age sixty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., gardener, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, fingers stiff, cast in left eye. Wellington. —l9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for twenty-one days in default of paying £6 4s. fine and costs for theft, Henry Edward Wright, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. Sin., steward, native of E gland, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair, grey eyes; defective sight; wears glasses.

Christchurch. —l3th May last, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Ivy Grace Irving, Halswell, is the mother, Leonard Llewellyn Grant, age thirty, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer and motor-driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes. Christchurch. — 9th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, Alberin Edwin Whittington, alias Aubrey Whittington, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 9 in., motor-driver and farm labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, curly fair hair; usually dressed in a grey suit and light-coloured-felt hat. Christchurch. failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Richard Anderson, age about twentythree, height 5 ft. 4 in., plumber, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, scar on left upper arm ; dressed in a dark-grey suit and light-grey-felt hat. Complainant, Gladys Myrtle Stanton, 112 Wildberry Street, Woolston.

Arrears to 17th February last, £2.

Christchurch. —l6th February last, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s bicycle (recovered), value £5 10s., the property of John Hayes, lineman, 36 Abberley Road, St. Albans, James Muir (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair ; dressed in a dark suit and brown-felt hat. The bicycle was stolen from Christchurch Railwaystation, and sold by accused to Charles Small, Sydenham Cycle Company, for £2 10s.

Christchurch.— Bth ultimo. Inquiries are to be made with the view of locating and having him brought up for sentence, Joseph Delaney, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, four vaccination-marks and mole on left upper arm. On the Bth January last he was convicted on two charges of theft, and ordered to come up for sentence if called on and to remain in the Prison Gate Home for three months. He has failed to remain in the Home. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 106, and Photographs, page 13.)

Dunedin.— 27th February last, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of Mrs. May Beattie, and stealing therefrom a brooch (recovered), an 18 ct. gold engagementring, set with three rubies and four diamonds, and a Oct. gold ring, formerly a brooch, set with a large blue stone in centre encircled with small brilliants in square setting, total value £ls, identifiable, Stewart, age about twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, round face, cleanshaved ; well dressed in a dark or brown suit and tan boots. The brooch was recovered at Mrs. Brawn’s second-hand shop, where it had been sold by a man of the description given.

Gore. —24th September last, on warrant, of commitment to military custody for seven days in default of paying £3 10s. fine and costs for failing to render personal service, James Richard McGrath, age twentythree, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes.
