Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). Bth December last, from a seat in Quay Street, the property of WINE LAMB, a brown-leather case, 13 in. by 11 in. by 4 in., fastened with two brass clasps, containing a pink kimono ; a cheque for £l2 10s., No. H 4915, on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, drawn by the Auckland Education Board, and payable to Miss Wine Lamb; and several letters : total value, £2 15s. Identifiable.
Auckland.— 4th ultimo, from ALFRED LE BON’S bedroom at 105 Grey Street, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold hunting-watch, slightly dented, No. 217631 ; a pair of gentlemen's black box-calf boots, size 9; a white shirt, size 4; four striped white collars: total value, £7 15s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age forty, height 5 ft. 10 in., good build, fair hair and complexion ; dressed in grey rough-tweed suit, trousers lighter in colour than coat and vest, and a light-fawn hat with a black band on it.
Auckland. —14th February last, from a bedoom in the Thames Hotel, the property of MARY BRUNTON, Wharopoa Road, Thames Valley, a dark brown-leather brief-bag, 14 in. long, lined with white calico, containing a pink crepe de Chine dress ; a blue flowered voile dress with a creamcoloured collar ; a pair of white-kid gloves, a pair of white cotton gloves, six white handkerchiefs, a comb, a tooth brush, and a pair of small scissors: total value, £6 19s. 6d. Identifiable.
Te Aroha. —JULIA TERRILL’S jewellery, &0., stolen : It has now been ascertained by the Te Aroha police that the following additional articles were stolen : A gold bracelet, containing a lock of brown hair; a gold cable bangle with a plain and a chased link alternately ; and a gold pendant, set with pearls and tourmalines, with a pearshaped pearl at bottom: total value, £9 ss. Rotorua.— On or about the 2nd ultimo the ROTORUA FURNISHING COMPANY’S premises in Tutanekai Street were broken into, and the following money stolen therefrom : Six £5 notes, eighteen £1 notes, and £9 Is. 3d. in silver ; total value, £57 is. 3d. Not identifiable.
Napier. —On or nbout the 21st ultimo the Technical College was broken into, and £2 14s. 4d., the property of ISAAC EDWARD NEWTON, stolen therefrom.
Waipukurau. —24th December last, from a ruilway-car-iiage between Waipukurau and Hastings, the property of Mrs. COLLIN SCOTT, a brown-leather suit-case with C.S. over P in black on top, containing a ladies’ white coat with black collar and cuSs, a white-silk motor-coat, a dark-grey-tweed skirt, a white skirt, a blue-and-white-voile skirt, a black-satin underskirt, a woollen sport’s coat, three pairs of stockings, and a pair of ladies’ tan shoes : total value, £lB 16s. Identifiable.
Feilding.—On or about the 20th ultimo the High School in Manchester Street and the Technical School in Ferguson Street were broken into, and a stop-watch and a screwdriver (recovered), a clock, and £l2 in silver, the property of the EDUCATION BOARD, stolen therefrom ; total value, £l2 10s. 6d. Clock only identifiable.
Shannon.— On or about the 14th ultimo, from a bedroom at the Albion Hotel, the property of MADELINE McKEGG, an 18 ct. gold ring, set with five diamonds, similar to illustration No. 80 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 6 ; and an 18 ct. gold ring, set with three rubies with small diamonds between in claw setting : total value, £2B. Identifiable.
Masterton. —On or about the 21st ultimo NICOLS AND SON’S workshop in Queen Street was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : A dark-grey worsted coat and vest, a pair of black-tweed trousers with a silver stripe through them, a pair of brownish check-tweed trousers with cuffs at bottoms, and a pair of dark-grey worsted trousers ; total value, £9 10s. Identifiable.
Wellington.— Between the 13th February last and the 3rd ultimo MRS. EMMELINE ADAMS' JENKINS’S dwelling at Ngaio Road, Kelburn, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : Seven silver dessertspoons, eight silver teaspoons, and four nickel jam-spoons, with “J ” on handles; and a half-sovereign: total value, £3 Bs. Identifiable except money.
Wellington. —Between the 24th February last and the 4th ultimo ALFRED CHARLES PERRIN’S dwelling at 58 Austin Street was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom: A stainless table-knife and two stainless tea-knives, with “ W. R. Humphries and Coy., Sheffield,”on them ; three table-forks ; two silver dessert-spoons ; a small platina fork ; and a wristlet Rolex watch, with “ Presented to A. C. Perrin from the Christchurch Press Literary staff, March. 1916,” on back, in a leather case : total value, £8 10s. Identifiable.
Wellington.—llth ultimo, from Hunter Street, the property of ERNEST SMITH BALDWIN, 215 Lambton Quay, a black T. model five-seater Ford motor - car, registered No. W.N. 1814, Maltese Cross Paragon tires, “ No. 1851 C ” and “596148,” black tread with red sides on front wheels, grey tires on back wheels ; total value, £2OO. Identifiable.
Wellington. —On or about the Ist February last, from a motor-car on the Rimutaka Hills, the property of HARRY RANISH, Hinaki, Carterton, a motor-car tire, No. 12476, with “ 760 X 90,” on it, Stepney square tread; and a Barnett Glass tube, “760 X 90,” on it, No. 138535: total value, £4 10s. Identifiable.
Taranaki Street (Wellington).— On the 19th ultimo, the premises of CODY AND CO. (LIMITED), drapers, Courtenay Place, were broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : Three pieces eaoh 50 yards long and 38 in. wide of 9 m/m white silk, two of the pieces are doubled; two pieces each 50 yards long and 27in. wide of 10 m/m white silk; a piece about 25 yards long and 27 in. wide of 10 m/m white silk; two pieces eaoh 50 yards long and 27in. wide of 8 m/m white silk; three pieces each 50 yards long and 27 in. wide of 6 m/m white silk ; about 40 yards of 27 in. wide 8 m/m black silk; two dozen pairs ladies’ black lisle hose; three dozen pairs ladies’ black silk ankle hose ; three dozen pairs ladies’ white silk ankle hose ; three dozen pairs ladies’ mole lisle hose; thirty-six tins Williams’s talc powder; a ladies’ purple corduroy overcoat with black imitation-fur collar; three pairs ladies’ black glace-kid Crockett and Jones shoes, pug toes, “ ec/r ” and “ 39/6 ”on sole ; two pairs ladies’ black glace-kid Crockett and Jones shoes, round toes, “ ec/r ” and “ 49/-” on sole ; a pair of ladies’ suede shoes, “Murray’s,” “Wood heel,” “pu/n,” and “42/6” on sole; three pairs ladies’ black patent Dorothy Dodd shoes, pointed toes, Louis heels, “er/a” and “47/6” on sole; three pairs of gentlemen’s black box-calf Crockett and Jones boots, pug toes, “M, 105,” on instep, “pl/v” and “55/-” on sole; a pair of ladies’ tan calf shoes, long toes, branded “ Murray’s ” on sole, “2350” inside lining, and “el/n,” “38/6 ” on sole ; a pair of ladies’ tan-calf shoes, short round toes, “ Murray’s,” “el/n,” “39/6” on sole : total value, £250 4s. 2d. Identifiable.
Taranaki Street (Wellington). —24th January last, from Luke’s Lane, the property of the TRUSTEES OF THE ESTATE OF THE LATE JOHN NORTON, a gentlemen’s black - enamelled free-wheel 22 in. B.S.A. bicycle, straight handles, rubber pedals, back-pedalling brake, steel rims and mud-guards, Dunlop tires ; value, £5 10s. Identifiable.
Taranaki Street (Wellington). —26th February last, from Willeston Street, the property of the BRITISH EMPIRE TRADING COMPANY (LIMITED), a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel Eureka bicycle, No. A 57717, small curved handles with black grips, back-pedalling brake, steel rims, pedals, and mud-guards, Mansfield saddle, Oceanic tires ; value, £5. Identifiable.
Mount Cook. 9th October last, from the People’s Private Hotel, Cuba Street, the property of MRS. ETHEL ADELAIDE TEMPLE, 228 Willis Street, a brown-leather handbag, 18 in. by 9 in. by 12 in., containing a ladies’ gold open-face keyless wristlet watch in a brown-leather wristlet; an 18ct. gold wide wedding-ring, with “ S.D.” on inside; two pairs of earrings, set with stones ; a silver signaller’s badge; three crepe de Chine blouses ; two cream-coloured blouses ; a light-blue blouse; a cream-coloured nightdress ; a white muslin nightdress ; a pair of white cotton gloves ; a pair of tlaok patent-leather shoes, size 4; a comb; a hairbrush ; a clothes-brush ; a post-card photograph; a marriage certificate; four £1 notes; a 10s. note; and a quantity of silver money: total value, about £3O. Identifiable except money.
Christchurch. Rubber Company’s premises, the property of WILLIAM JOHN BALLANTINE, salesman, a gentlemen’s Lewis bicycle, No. 486983, outrigger racing-handles with Bluemel’s black grips, black runs with a red band, rat-trap pedals, racing-saddle, insulating-tape on bar; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —l4th February last, from the Eastern Hotel, the property of THOMAS MARTIN, 412 Cashel Street, a gentlemen’s black - enamelled Star bicycle, Nos. 26462 and 1493, raised handles, nickel rims, rubber pedals, steel mud-guards ; value, £l4. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —7th February last, from the Tepid Baths, the property of JAMES FREDERICK SUTCLIFFE, 192 Peterborough Street, a gentlemen’s Runwell bicycle, No. 589, racing-handles with black grips, rubber pedals, racing-saddle, Bluemel’s mud-guards, Bates tire on front wheel, Dunlop tire on back wheel, two teeth missing from driving-wheel; value, £6 10s. Identifiable.
Christchurch.— 2oth February last, from Oxford Terrace, the property of WALLER FREDERICK GIBB, 138 Oxford Terrace, a gentlemen’s Banfield bicycle, No. 2978, outrigger
upturned bandies with black Bluemel’s grips, narrow Dunlop rims, rubber B.S.A. pedals, top bar nickel-plated, Britannia tire on front wheel, Dunlop tire on back wheel; value, £ll. Identifiable.
Christchurch. Crown Hotel, the property of JOHN PAULING, 37 Smollet Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel Star bicycle, No. 25527-2185, square handles with black grips, steel rims and mud - guards, front brake, Oceanic tires; value, £9. Identifiable.
Christchurch.— 3lst January last, from MARY ELIZA ROPER’S shed at the junction of Graham and Wairarapa Roads, Papanui, a 12-bore double-barrel breach-loading gun, with “ N.Z. Farmer ”on barrel and a silver heart-shaped shield on stock; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Dunedin. —27 th February last, from a suit-case in the railway guard’s van between Clyde and Dunedin, the property of IVY THERESA McELROY, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold hunting Waltham watch, No. 8769706; and a gold thin band engagement-ring, set with five diamonds, in a case wiih “ Ross, Wellington,” on it: total value, £lO. Identifiable.
Invercargill.— 7th ultimo, from CHING SHIN’S shed in Oteramika Road, a gentlemen’s free-wheel 24 in. B.S.A. bicycle, No. 10093, Dunlop tires ; and about a hundredweight of potatoes: total value, £8 10s. Bicycle only identifiable.
Bluff. —On or about the 2nd ultimo, from a rail on the wharf, the property of MANUEL VELLA, a 45-fathom 4J-in.-mesh tanned fishing-net, with a 60 fathom Jin. haul-ing-rope attached ; total value, £l2. Identifiable.
