PERSONS WANTED.
Kaitaia. —2lst June, 1916, that a warrant of distress for £2 fine and costs for obscene exposure may be executed upon his effects, Samson Hunter, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, aboriginal, medium build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 515.)
Kaitaia. —19th July, 1915, on two warrants of commitment to Kaitaia Police-gaol—(1) fourteen days in default of paying £1 12s. 6d. fine and costs for trespassing on Crown lands, (2) thirty days in default of paying £3 3s. 6d. for theft, Tahitahi Tohuora, age about forty, height 5 ft. 6$ in., gum-digger and soldier, aboriginal, medium build, copper complexion, blaok hair, brown eyes. Ponsonby.— 3oth ultimo, for theft of a ladies’ light-grey leather handbag, fitted with a looking-glass, a scent-bottle, and a powder-tin, and a purse containing £3 165., the property of Mrs. Francis Morton, 25 Franklin Road, Man (name unknown), age about forty-three, height about 6 ft., strong build ; wearing a fawn raincoat and grey soft-felt hat. While complainant was walking in Franklin Road her handbag was snatched by accused. No warrant.
Auckland. —4th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, William Reynolds, age thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 8 in., carter, native of Australia, medium build, fair fresh oomplexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on side of chin; pleasant manner. He may assume the name Rennels. Complainaut, Harriet Rebecca Reynolds.
Auckland. —16th May last, that proceedings for failing to enrol in the Expeditionary Force Reserve may be instituted against him, John Steel, age about forty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., labourer and seaman, medium build, ruddy oomplexion, fair hair; dressed in a grey-tweed suit and cap; olean-shaved. He is believed to have arrived in this Dominion about March last.
Auckland. —loth instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his three children, Reuben James Wilson, age thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 11 in., motor-driver, native of England, stout build, sallow complexion, darkbrown hair, blue-grey eyes, left arm withered, several gold teeth ; usually dressed in a light-grey suit and yellow mackintosh.
Auckland. pretences, Woman (name unknown), age about twenty, height 5 ft. 3 in., stout build, fair hair and complexion ; was wearing a grey-tweed heavy overcoat, small fur hat, and
spectacles. Accused by falsely representing that she was the daughter of Constable Thompson, Newmarket, obtained from Rose Irwin, draper, Broadway, a teacloth, a supperoloth, and two towels ; total value, 9s. Id.
Auckland. —16th instant, that she may be compelled to maintain her son, William Douglas Graham, an inmate of Auckland Industrial School, Mary Graham, age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 2 in., domestic, thin build, dark hair (may be cut short), dark complexion; usually well dressed. She may not be aware that the child has been committed to an industrial school.
Merger.—4th May last, on warrant for false pretences, James Curry, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, clean-shaved. Accused obtained goods to the value of £ 1 16s. Bd. from Samuel Carter, storekeeper, by falsely representing himself as a permanent hand employed on the New Zealand railways.
Wellington. —On or about the 7th May last, on warrant for theft of a hat-box and oontents, a box and contents, and a valise and contents, total value £l4O (identifiable), the property of Grace Richardson, domestic, care of G.P.0., David McArthur Todd, age thirty - three, height 5 ft. 7J in., labourer and soldier, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair, brown eyes, three upper front teeth missing, head and arms on right forearm, “-D.T.” and heart on back of left hand, anchor on back ot left forearm. Accused stole the complainant’s hand-bag containing oheck-luggage tickets for the above-described property, which was in store at the Napier Railway-station. It was forwarded to Palmerston North, and thence to Taihape, where it was claimed by him under the name Martindale. (See Police Gazette, 1918, page 188, and Photographs, 1909, page 23.)
Wellington.—l6th instant, that proceedings for failing to notify his change of address may be instituted against him, Mark McLashin, age thirty-one, hairdresser.
Wellington. —2nd instant, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for (1) one month in default of paying £7 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his child, and (2) twenty-one days in default of paying £3 fine for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, Gustave Myers, age forty-three, height 5 ft. B|in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, brown hair and eyes. Arrears computed to 26th July last. (See Police Gazette, 1918, page 206.)
Christchurch. —l4th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a Gladstone bag, containing a blanket and Post Office Savings-bank book, &o , total value £1 10s. (recovered), the property of Jeremiah Geaney, 32 Bath Street, J. Harman, age about fifty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., dressed in a brown or grey dirty suit. Accused sold the bag and oontents to David Arthur Ellwood, second-hand dealer, for 7s. 6d.
