INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.

Johannesburg (South Africa). 27th May last, on warrant for theft, Samuel Javett, a Russian Jew, age about thirty-six, height about 5 ft. 8 in., very stout build, yellow complexion, dark hair and moustache, scar on top of head; usually wears a straw hat. He is supposed to have come to this Dominion. This notice is subject to instruction No. 13 on page 2of this Gazette. (G.R. 14/337.)

San Mateo (California, U S.A.). —4th ultimo, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Charles E. Ridge way, alias Charles Allen Rudgeway, alias Billie Ridgeway, for false pretences. He is thirty-three years of age, about 5 ft. 7 in. high, heavy build, fair complexion, brown hair (very tbin on back of bead), light-grey eyes with greenish tinge, slow gait, with inclination to lean full weight on left foot; nervous and restless ; talks in a low voice ; an inveterate cigarette-smoker, If located, an urgent communication is to be sent to the Commissioner of P lice, Wellington, before any further steps are taken. Melbourne (Victoria).— 7th March last, a warrant has been issued at Melbourne for the arrest of Charles Ernest Shaw for larceny in the dwelling of Cnarles Patrick Smith of jewellery, value £36. He is twenty-six years of age, height 6 ft., fair complexion, medium build, clean-shaved, fair hair, left forefinger injured, tip of left middle finger missing. He is a good open-window thief. Melbourne (Victoria).— 2oth February last, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of William Broadley on a charge of assaulting and robbing Edward Thornton Tubbs. Description : A pickpocket, twenty-six years of age, 5 ft. 10 in. high, stout build, dark complexion, clean-shaved, full face, dark hair; usually dressed in dark sac suit and black boxer hat.
